Already almost over? Or just beginning?

March 21, 2009

It’s already Saturday afternoon (3:30 pm) and the last set of seminars are winding down. Now comes a break followed by the last set of affinity group meetings. Then tonight’s plenary celebration and the Phoenix 2009 Summit is history. All over.

Or is it? The Summits are really the visible peak of a process that started three years ago, bringing together people from the various ethnic groups in Phoenix to plan for the event and that now continues a new impetus for ministry in the area. The post-summit continuation of what God is doing in and through this event is the long-term benefit of a Summit.

Lunch planning

March 21, 2009

At lunch today some members of the National Committee met with representatives of other cities that are interested in hosting a Summit. We talked about Denver, Greenville/Spartanburg, SC, and San Francisco. We are working toward a Vision Casting Meeting (the first step in confirming a city) in Denver, probably in May.

National Committee in Session

March 18, 2009

If you are reading this between 7:30 am and on into the rest of the day today (Wednesday) it will be during the meeting of the EAN National Committee. We a variety of issues to cover (including plans for next year’s BOSTON Summit) plus reviewing, again, any left-over tasks to prepare for the Phoenix Summit which starts tomorrow.

A few National and Regional Committee members met with Julie Bridwell of Scottsdale Bible Church Tuesday to look over planned layouts and traffic flow for the Summit, especially for registration and selection of seminars. If you are coming to join us here you will be blessed even just by the beauty of this wonderful venue.

The Week Begins

March 17, 2009

It’s Monday in Scottsdale, Arizona. Members of the National Committee of the Ethnic America Network are beginning to arrive, ready to help in any way to support the work of the regional committee that has worked so hard to make this Summit possible.

Some are in the Comfort Inn Scottsdale, just a couple of blocks from the Scottsdale Bible Church where the sessions will be held. Some early arrivers are at the Thunderbird, some at the Country Inn and Suites, and some with relatives or friends living nearby.

One thing we’ve discovered: It doesn’t pay to wait until the last minute to try to rent a car. As of this evening only one rental car company listed any being available, and they were charging $182 a day for their smallest cars! So if you are coming in and don’t have a vehicle reserved there is still good news. Shuttle services are not highly expensive for the run from the airport to the hotels in Scottsdale.

More people come in tomorrow, and tomorrow evening the National Committee members present will start off the event with a dinner at a Mexican restaurant, one of the many great food places within walking distance of our venue.

Pre-Summit Registration

March 13, 2009

Have you put off until now getting registered for the Phoenix 2009 Ethnic Ministries Summit? Well, now is a good time to register. Sunday we will remove online registration. You can still register, but it will have to be at the Summit site.

So, here are some options

  1. Register online now
  2. Do walk-in registration starting Thursday afternoon
  3. Come Friday or Saturday and register at the one-day rate.
  4. Come to the open-to-the-public, free, evening sessions Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

With all those options, how can you not plan to come?
